Osmania Medical College, popularly known as OMCH is considered among India's oldest and most well-known medical colleges. The institute was set up in early 1846 by the grace of the 5th Nizam of Hyderabad - Afzal Ud Daulah. The institution was earlier known as the Hyderabad Medical School, and later it was renamed the Osmania Medical College. Located in the city centre of Hyderabad, the state of Telangana OMC is known for offering a great quality of medical education. The institute is affiliated with the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences.

  • OMC Hyderabad has been approved under the Medical Council of India. The institute is run and managed by the Telangana state government.
  • At the UG level, the institution provides MBBS courses, and at the PG level, it offers MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses.

The college provides an MBBS degree program. The MBBS course at OMC Hyderabad is offered at the UG level and conducted for 5 and a half years. It includes 4 and a half academic years and 1 year of the rotary internship program.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria in OMC Hyderabad

  • For admission to the MBBS in Osmania College, the candidates must have passed their 10+2 or any HSC level board examination.
  • The minimum age of the candidates applying for the course should be 17 years, and the maximum age should be 25 years.
  • At the HSC level, the applicants must have selected Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as the mandatory subjects.
  • The applicants will be shortlisted for the MBBS admission offering at OMC Hyderabad based on their performance in the national level common entrance examination NEET UG.

MBBS Selection Criteria in OMC Hyderabad

  • The MBBS admission at OMC Hyderabad is offered under 2 different categories.
  • The 15% of the total intake of seats will be for the candidates applying for admission through the All India Quota.
  • The admission through all India quotas will be done by the national medical authority, MCC counselling.
  • To apply for admission, the applicants can go through the official website of the MCC and can fill up the online registration form. They need to register based on NEET Scores.
  • The remaining 85% of the total seats in OMC will be sanctioned to the candidates applying through the Telangana State Quota.
  • The candidates will be granted admission on the state quota seats by the state medical authority of Telangana state.
  • To apply for the state quota seats, the candidates can go through the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, State of Telangana.
  • Once the NEET Results are out, OMC will release the separate cut off list for AIQ quota and State Quota.
  • The aspirants must satisfy the Osmania College NEET Cut off to be eligible for admission.

Osmania Medical College Admission for the MBBS course would basically include the following criteria: 1. The candidate should be of min. 17 years of age at the time of admission or should be the age on or before the 31ST of December of their admission year. 2. The candidate should have pursued their 12th grade in science stream having secured a min. of 50% average marks or an equivalent from a recognized institute. 3. The candidate should also appear for the NEET-UG entrance test and obtain a valid score card. Admission seekers must fulfill all the criterion’s made under the admission guidelines.

Osmania Medical College does not offer B.Sc. courses as a part of its curriculum. Instead, the available courses are MBBS, MD, PG Diploma and MS and DM.
