In the year 2006, the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences laid its foundation in medical education in the Hassan district of Karnataka state. The institute is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science.

Course offered at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences is MBBS and B.Sc in bachelor degree level and MD and M.Sc in master degree level. Apart from these courses, the institute also offers paramedical courses consisting of 4 different specializations.  

  • For UG courses like MBBS and B.Sc, the essential eligibility criteria are completion of intermediate with a 50% aggregate score.
  • The candidate will have to secure the aggregate score in mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
  • The admission at this institute will be based on the student’s performance in KCET or COMEDK entrance examination.
  • For MD admission, candidates can apply after finishing 5 years of the MBBS program and a 1-year rotary internship program under the medical institute registered by the Medical Council of India.
  • The MD course admission will be based on the entrance exam PGET (Post Graduate Entrance Test) conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science.
  • For MD, around 50% of seats have been reserved for the All India Entrance Examination organized by the Director-General of Health Service, New Delhi. 
  • M.Sc course seats will be vacant for the students after completing a B.Sc degree in the relevant stream.
  • For paramedical course admissions, candidates can apply directly after completing the 10th.

KEA which is called as Karnataka Examination Authority conducts a state level entry test called as KCET which even I wrote. They also will conduct the online counselling in which we will have to enter our choices of college and once that’s done they will display the colleges which we are eligible for. We must confirm the seat and then make an online payment. They will also issue the provisional certificate for joining the college. With this certificate we can go to the college to take admission. This is the process of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences admission for the MBBS course.

Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences admissions are done for MBBS. The MBBS course spans over 5 years duration. There exists a HIMS eligibility criterion for the aspirants to possess in order to be considered. Wherein, the candidate needs to be of min. 17 years of age and should have passed their 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology as their majors having secured 50% average marks from any recognized board. The college generally accepts its students based on the HIMS merit admissions, which requires the candidates to have optimal score in NEET and KCET. HIMS NEET cutoff varies annually. Also, HIMS direct admissions are done based on the eligibility criteria.
