Admission in Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), University of Pune 2025: Date, Cutoff, Eligibility

The Department of Management Sciences (Pune University MBA/PUMBA) holds an 'A' grade with 5-star accreditation from NAAC. PUMBA provides both BBA and MBA programs and can accommodate 360 students. The PUMBA admission process is highly competitive and follows a rigorous selection procedure. It primarily considers the scores of national-level MBA entrance exams like CAT, MAT, CMAT or MH-CET. Candidates must meet the specified eligibility criteria and then proceed with admissions.

PUMBA BBA admissions

BBA is a UG program offered by the University for applicants willing to pursue a degree in management stream. The course duration is for 3 years (6 semesters). The eligibility criteria are passing the 10th and 12th exams with an average of 50% aggregate marks in any stream from recognized boards. BBA is available only in general management and Hospitality and Facilities Management. For selections, only academic merit is taken into consideration.

PUMBA MBA admissions

The MBA program is a 2 years course. For every academic year, the intake of candidates is 180. The MBA program at PUMBA is available in multiple specializations. The list of disciplines is as follows:

PUMBA eligibility criteria for an MBA are to have secured at least 50% in their graduation degree or equivalent from a recognized University. For the selection process, the domicile students must qualify for the MH-CET exam. For other students, they will consider scores from entrance exams like CMAT/CAT/MAH-CET. It is mandatory for the applicants to have registered and appeared for the management entrance exam from their official website. They must pay the application fees to make it valid.

The PUMBA MBA cutoff of the CAT exam is 60-80, and the MAH CET is 98.69. For the PUMBA MBA admission process, candidates must submit the applications online using the University website or download and send the form directly or through post.

PUMBA EMBA admissions

PUMBA also offers an Executive MBA program for working professionals. The program duration is 2 years. In each academic year, the University will take in 60 students. To apply for admissions, the applicants must have completed their graduation degree and have 3 years of working experience in relevant fields. The admission criteria will be based on academic merit and the entrance exam that the University will conduct. The EMBA is available in specializations like:

As per the selection process for Executive MBA PUMBA, the admissions will be on the entrance exam conducted by the University. The exam paper will be divided into 4 subjects, like

• Data Interpretation
• General Mental Ability
• Logical Deduction
• Arithmetical Ability
• Verbal and non-verbal Reasoning.  

The allocation of seats in PUMBA for EMBA is 60, where 30 seats are allocated for Maharashtra state candidates, and the remaining is for the open category. Under this, 3% of the seats are for reserved and physically disabled candidates.

PUMBA Admission Process 

The Department of Management Studies at Pune University offers its flagship MBA program. However, the admission process might differ from year to year, and it is advisable to check the University website for the latest updates regularly. Here are the standard admission process steps to be followed when filling out the application form:   

Eligible applicants can fill in the PUMBA admission form online and offline. According to the convenience of the applicant, forms can be submitted.

In the Online registration:

• Interested candidates must register online through the official PUMBA website during the specified application period.   
• The applicants must have appeared in the entrance exam required for MBA admissions.
• Once the registration is complete, candidates can complete the PUMBA application form with personal and educational details.
• For the form to be valid, the applicants must pay the application fees specified by the University notification.   
• The PUMBA application fee is INR 900 for the general category, and the reserved category is INR 700.
• The application payment can be made through net banking/ card payment/ or by DD in the name of the University.  

Offline applications:

• Applicants can download the form by visiting the official website at https://www.pumba.in/
• They must attach necessary docs in scanned format and submit the form personally at the campus or through post using the PUMBA address.
• The shortlisted candidates will be called for telephonic or GD/PI rounds as informed by the Institute.
• After the selections are made, the confirmation letter will be sent to the candidates. The confirmation will be valid only after paying the required fees.

After the applications are submitted, the documents will be verified and shortlisted. The applicants are then called for GD and PI rounds. Once the admission process is complete, classes for the MBA program usually start according to the academic calendar.
