The Distance Education in Dayalbagh Educational Institute was established to make their excellent education accessible to more people, especially those in remote or disadvantaged areas, including women. The goal is to empower them and help with their economic development. They offer vocational programs to provide job skills, and the fees are affordable.
They also offer higher-level degree and diploma programs, and many of these programs are recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC) of IGNOU, a respected authority in distance education in India. DEI offers these programs at 85 study centers in India and 6 abroad.
DEI has well-equipped labs, workshops, and modern communication technology like EDUSAT satellite-interactive terminals and Polycom-based internet connections to support learning. This technology allows for two-way communication between DEI and its study centers.
The Distance Education Program at DEI uses a blended approach to teaching. That means they combine traditional face-to-face teaching (3 hours per day, 6 days a week) with online education. Some programs are taught in real-time online classes, while others use web-based materials for learning. This approach makes education flexible and accessible to a broader audience.

Applicants must complete an online application to apply for any of these programs. The application process usually begins in January and is completed by April, and it will be the same as those for admission to the Main Campus. However, when filling out the online application, applicants need to specify their chosen Examination Center where they will take all the exams during the program.
The admission procedure for these programs mirrors that of the Main Campus. Applicants must submit an application form and participate in the same Entrance Test or Interview. Applicants are also eligible to apply based on CUET scores. Admission to all the distance learning courses is offered based on the Dayalbagh College Entrance Exam.

The BBM (Hons) program, which started in DEI in 1993, commenced in the distance mode in July 2009 to provide employment generation-oriented courses. Candidates must have passed their 10+2/HSC examinations from an approved board to be eligible for distance education BBM admissions. Currently, this program is available at 15 study centers across India, including Adanbagh, Agra City, Ellora, Karolbagh, Gurgaon, Soaminagar (New Delhi), Noida, Jamshedpur, Mumbai, Pune, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Chandigarh. The program spans 3.5 years, including 3 years of coursework and a 6-month internship training, which may be exempted for students with sufficient and relevant experience supported by valid proof.
Admissions to the Distance MBA program at Dayalbagh Educational Institute occur in July each year, with application submissions required in June. Eligibility criteria mandate that candidates should hold a graduate degree in arts, business management, Commerce, social science, or engineering, with a minimum of 55% marks and a qualified score in the management entrance test.
The written test comprises Multiple Choice questions from four subjects: Logic & reasoning, English Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, and General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Each centre conducts the written test simultaneously, followed by group discussions and personal interviews. The maximum intake is set at 10 students per centre.
