Banaras Hindu University, commonly known as BHU, was previously Central Hindu College. The university was established as a central public university in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. BHU is the only university with IIT inside the campus, known as IIT BHU. The University is organized into six institutes, fourteen faculties, and 132+ departments. The total students’ enrollment in the university goes above 30000 from all over the world.

Note:

  • For ST/ SC category candidates, there is no obligation of a minimum aggregate of marks in any qualifying exams except they should have passed the qualifying exams and should have attended the related entrance examination.
  • In the case of PC and OBC candidates, they do have a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks scored in the qualifying exam compared to the general category.

Under Graduate Admission through UET:

The university offers various specializations under the Undergraduate Level courses, such as B.Com. (Hons), BA (Hons), B.Sc. (Ag), B.P.Ed, BFA, BPA, Shastri (Hons), B.Sc. (Hons), B.Ed., Bachelor of Vocational Programs, and the duration depends on the course nature.

The candidate must have a graduate degree in the related stream to get admission to B.Ed. And B.P.Ed. Later, the eligible candidates will have to attend a common entrance exam named UET, which the University leads.

LLB and BA.LLB Admission:

The University also offers LLB and BA.LLB programs for the ambitious candidates seeking their future in the Law field. The course duration for BA.LLB is 5 years, and for LLB, it is 3 years. To get admission into BA. The candidate must have passed in 10+2 or equal exam in the related stream. The eligible candidates will have to attend UET, led by the University.

  • The candidate will not be eligible for admission to BA.LLB has passed 10+2 from an Open University System without any essential qualification.
  • To get admission to the law program, the ST/SC candidate must pass the qualifying exam with 40%.
  • In the case of PC and OBC candidates, they do have a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks scored in the qualifying exam compared to the general category.
  • The total intake for the law program is 60 students.

BDS and MBBS Admission through NEET:

The University provides MBBS and BDS programs for the candidates, and the admission to these programs is through NEET. The candidates can choose the University only after the candidate’s MCC counseling. The basic eligibility for these programs' access is to have a 50% aggregate in 10+2 PCB with English. The minimum age limit is the candidate must not be above 17 years, and there is a relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories.

 

Post Graduate Admission through PET:

The University provides many Postgraduate courses such as MA, Acharya, MBA, and MPA with several specializations and all the courses are of 2 years duration. The candidate’s score in PET led by the University is the base for admission to the courses mentioned above.

Application Process:

All the candidates have to follow the steps for admission to the university:

  • The applicants should visit the entrance exam or BHU's official website.
  • The application form has to be filled out online.
  • The application fee of INR 500 for general and INR 250 for reserved has to be paid online through a Credit or Debit card or Net banking or can even be paid in cash through a challan of HDFC bank.
  • The MBA course's application fee is INR 1500 for General and OBC students and INR 800 for reserved category students.
  • If the candidate is interested in more courses, the application fee of INR 200 for General and OBC and INR 100 for the reserved course must be paid.

Students looking for MBA admissions at MHU must have completed their graduation degree from a recognized University followed by CAT/ MAT scores. The accepted CAT cut-off is 85 percentile.

There is no entrance exam needed for B.Sc. admissions at BHU. The University will consider 10th and 12th board exams with min of 50% marks in science subjects like PCM as mandatory.

Banaras Hindu University offers a B-Tech program based on 10+2 board exams in the science stream with PCM subjects as mandatory. Selections are based on CUET scores.
